InterContinental Kansas City showcases Kansas City's Country Club Plaza

The InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza is named in tribute to its place on Kansas City's Country Club Plaza, the city's premier shopping, dining and entertainment district. The historic Plaza was developed in the 1920s and is reputed to be the first shopping district in the U.S. designed to accommodate the automobile. The Spanish-inspired Plaza is home to 180 world-class shops, restaurants, bars and galleries. Its tree-lined boulevards, wrought iron-encompassed courtyards, red-tiled roofs with Moorish towers create an atmosphere for a relaxing stroll and to take in the art sprinkled throughout.

The hotel was born in 1972 as the Alameda Plaza to be a one-of-a-kind property designed to reflect the distinct character of this unique destination. Today, the InterContinental Kansas City is very much a showcase for the Plaza. The twelve-story arc-shaped structure is architecturally designed to open guests to the beauty and charm of the Country Club Plaza. Guests rooms, including those on its two executive floors with its own private lounge, offer magnificent views. So to do many of the hotel's 21 diverse-size meeting rooms as well as its dining outlets and public spaces. In warm-weather seasons, guests may enjoy dining on the patio terrace or luxuriate on the outdoor pool deck and garden terrace from which a waterfall cascades to the Fountain of Diana one story below at Plaza street level.
