The most famous surfing beach in California waits just over the pedestrian bridge from Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa. Designed with meetings in mind, the Huntington Beach retreat supplies countless incentives for between-meetings fun. Attendees may want to shoot the curl at Huntington Pier, lounge in the sun, or indulge at the Pacific Waters Spa—an oasis renowned for rejuvenating saltwater treatments and more. Group members can also unwind at the fitness center, lagoon-style pool, water park, jogging trails, shopping village, restaurants and lounges—all accompanied by attentive Hyatt service.
The resort’s red-tile roofs and arches evoke the charm of California’s mission period, and the interiors continue the theme. The gracious style extends from the lobby to the 517 rooms and suites, which combine business-friendly amenities like oversized desks with creature comforts like pillow-top mattresses and ocean-view balconies.
Meanwhile, the resort’s conference center gets down to business with its own porte cochere and lobby at the west end of the property. Three ocean-view ballrooms hold groups of up to 2,222, nine breakout rooms accommodate up to 222, and three boardrooms host up to 14. A large interior courtyard serves as the corridor between venues as well as a central spot for hospitality. In addition, four oceanfront courtyards span over 40,000 square feet for events—highlighted by lush gardens, lawns, splashing fountains, spacious patios, and stately palms.

We have repeated a bi-annual program here three times and the service is terrific.
Food, rooms and meeting space are all above average, but not perfect. Their service staff is helpful, pleasant and very dedicated to meeting planner's needs.
I don't think it would compete with some of the other Orange County coastal resorts, but it is above average as a meeting hotel

This resort really delivers on the sense of arrival. It's the quintessential beach location and the property really feels more like a vacation destination than a group property.
Once you accept the fact that you are actually across a major street from the beach, your guests will be thrilled with the hotel. There are firepits throughout and the gift shop sells Smores kits.
There's great event space, both inside and out, with a large ballroom to accommodate groups of any size.
The room product is very nice and there are plenty of outlets to entertain your attendees.
It's a little removed from the local attractions, and also it provides a longer transfer from the airport than some of the other coastal locations...but the Hyatt delivers more beach than any other hotel (without going way up in room rates!)

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - In addition to being one of Orange County's most stunning luxury resorts, home to the AAA Four-Diamond the Californian Restaurant, and the award winning Pacific Waters Spa, the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa has been added to the esteemed list for Travel + Leisure magazine's 500 World's Best Hotels list for 2009. The list is featured in the perennial publication's January issue, and the highly coveted distinction joins a long list of accolades that has made Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort &Spa one of Southern California's premier destination properties.
"It is an honor to be recognized by the readers of Travel + Leisure, as guests of the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa have revered it as the crown jewel of Surf City USA® and the quintessential California destination for family leisure and fun," says Cheryl Phelps, General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa. "We look to raise the bar on the definition of fine Southern California living in everything we do, and that level of excellence is a key factor of the hotels that make this prestigious list."
The list was voted on by readers of Travel + Leisure, who selected eight Hyatt properties nationwide, with Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa being one of only five Orange County resorts to make the list. The Travel + Leisure list is only the kickoff to a banner year for the resort in 2009, when the property will complete a $4 million addition of a family and activities pool. The pool will provide the resort with 3 water slides, two fire pits, poolside bar and cafe, a children's wading pool and Jacuzzi. This will be the first of its kind along the coastal Orange County multiple beach community stretch.
