At Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress A $65 Million Renovation
Posted October 14, 2009
Guestrooms Are First to "Redefine Luxury" at the 25-year-old Resort
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (February 16, 2009) --- When Lynn McIntosh checked into Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress last weekend it was almost 10 p.m. and she'd had a long flight.
"I've been bringing groups to this property for a very long time," said the corporate meeting planner. "And I'd heard renovation had begun, but the moment my head felt that pillow I understood what redefining luxury meant."
This 25-year-old resort has long been a hospitality icon in the Orlando market, but with the launch of the restyling of its 750 guestrooms there is a "redefinition of luxury", says Paul Tang, vice president and managing director, Global Hyatt Corporation and general manager of Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress.
"Before the end of 2010, nearly every inch of this hotel will be transformed to provide the finest resort experience and carry on the legacy of unmatched hospitality."

The 1,500-acre Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort is located near Orlando in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Over the next 24 months the hotel, part of the 1,500-acre Grand Cypress resort, will go through renovation and updating in phases, designed to assure guests are comfortable and meetings are undisturbed.
"Today, the guestroom must take into consideration the myriad needs of our guests. We know that this room must accommodate work, dining, play, relaxing and sleep," said Bob Dees, director of sales and marketing.
Hyatt's Grand Bed with Egyptian cotton linens.

Our new guestrooms are a modern and beautiful retreat complete with high tech capabilities, a comfortable chair and desk for work and dining, well considered lighting, flat panel TV's and of course our Grand Bed with the high thread count linens and a soft touch."

The next phase of the renovation will include new dining concepts, a modern facelift for all public and meeting spaces including new finishes, lighting, furniture and high-tech systems.

"Our 65,000 square feet of ballroom, breakout and event space are being enhanced to assure we have all the conveniences and accommodations important for successful meetings," said Dees. "Nothing has been left to chance we have reviewed every detail so meeting planners can be certain their priorities have been met, and then some," he said.

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando Receives Florida Green Lodging Program Designation
Posted October 28, 2008
Designation

-Environmentally-friendly hotel conserves resources, saves money and attracts customers-

ORLANDO " The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today welcomed the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress to the Florida Green Lodging Program. The property is the 214th in the state to become a designated member of the program. The voluntary state initiative provides the lodging industry with technical assistance, encouraging hotels and motels to adopt cost-saving green practices that reduce waste and conserve natural resources.

DEP is excited to welcome the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress as a designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program, said DEP Central District Director Vivian Garfein. With its 750 guestrooms, Hyatts reduction in energy usage and amount of water conserved by being a part of this program makes a tremendous impact on Floridas environment.

To become a designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program, hotels must follow certain green practices. These practices include, but are not limited to, water conservation measures through low flow plumbing fixtures, a linen reuse program, energy efficiency achieved by installing ENERGY STAR appliances and programmable thermostats. The waste reduction criteria are met by providing the opportunity to recycle, purchasing items in bulk, purchasing recycled materials and by recycling ink and toner cartridges. All designated properties must also use green cleaners and high efficiency air filters.

"The entire team at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress has worked hard to achieve this designation and we are proud to become a member of the Florida Green Lodging Program," said Paul Tang, Vice President and Managing Director of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. "I would like to thank our Green Team for spearheading these efforts and continuing to encourage our associates and guests to be responsible stewards of our environment."

Recently, Governor Crist hosted the 2008 Serve to Preserve Florida Summit on Global Climate Change, building on the foundation of last years summit for Floridas energy future. During the 2007 summit, Governor Crist signed three executive orders initiating state energy-use policies, including one that requires state agencies and departments to hold meetings and conferences only at hotels with Florida Green Lodging Program designation as of January 1, 2008, whenever possible. This years summit explored technologies and strategies to stimulate economic development in clean technologies as well as green Floridas business community.

Launched in March 2004, the Florida Green Lodging Program establishes environmental guidelines for hotels and motels to conserve natural resources and prevent pollution. As a reward for designation, the state is recommending designated properties in the Florida Green Lodging Program to companies and trade organizations seeking environmentally conscious lodging and convention facilities. With the addition of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, the program has 216 designated properties and more than 400 applicants. For more information about the Florida Green Lodging Program, visit www.dep.state.fl.us/greenlodging.

DEPs Office of Sustainable Initiatives is comprised of three voluntary, non-regulatory programs that assist Florida industry and citizens in protecting the environment. The Clean Marina Program, the Florida Green Lodging Program and the Florida Pollution Prevention Program offer a variety of services including on-site assessments, consultations, speakers and workshops, all at no cost to citizens or organizations. The goal of the Sustainable Initiatives programs is to meet the needs of the present population without compromising resources for future generations.
