Spokane, WA - Hotel Lusso, Spokanes premier small luxury hotel, has been listed in the 21st annual Cond Nast Traveler as one of the top 100 hotels in the United States. Every year since 1988, a select sample of Cond Nast Traveler readers have taken the Readers' Choice Survey. In 2008, the questionnaire was available to all readers through a secure Web site. The final tabulations of 32,633 responses were done by Mediamark Research, Inc., of New York City. A sign to the level of competition, this years winners boast the highest scores in the 21 year history of Cond Nast Traveler, a first class online and print edition magazine recognized around the world as a leader in travel review.
We feel very privileged to be included in such a dignified travel magazines top list says Joe Dinnison who, together with his wife Mary, own Hotel Lusso. This validates all of our hard work over the past ten years.
A 1998 renovation updated two of Spokanes most historic buildings, the Miller and Whitten, into this charming independently owned Small Luxury Hotel. Both structures were built in 1890 and are on the National Register for Historic Places. Lusso is Italian for luxury, so the hotel is both aptly named and designed; the generous use of marble, detailed scroll work and elegant archways says it all. The oversized guest rooms have 14 foot ceilings and are extravagantly appointed. Located in the heart of downtown Spokane, Hotel Lusso boasts European ambience throughout, including Mediterranean lobby fountains and elegantly decorated banquet and restaurant facilities.
The questionnaires contained lists of candidates (individual cities, hotels, etc.), and write-ins were allowed. Only candidates that received a required minimum number of responses were deemed eligible for an award. Each candidate was rated, criterion by criterion, on a five-point scale: excellent, very good, good, fair, poor. Criterion scores, which represent the percentage of respondents rating a candidate excellent or very good, were averaged to determine the final score. Hotels are scored based upon food/dinning, location, overall design, rooms, and service. Hotel Lusso scored an outstanding 89.6, earning the boutique hotel a spot in the top half of the 100 best hotels in the United States.
