Hotel Ivy Recieves Minnesota's only Mobil 4-Star for 09
Posted March 10, 2009
Hotel Ivy Awarded 4-Star Rating by 2009 Mobil Travel Guide
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil Travel Guide, originator of the
Star ratings program and certifications, has announced that Hotel Ivy in
Minneapolis is a recipient of the 2009 Mobil Four-Star Award. Hotel Ivy is the
only hotel in Minnesota to receive this 2009 award, and the first ever in
Minneapolis.
Hotel Ivy, located at 201 South 11th Street in Minneapolis, is one of only
137 hotels in the United States and Canada to achieve this award this year.
"It is a great honor -- in a region known for its hospitality -- to be the
top-ranked hotel in Minneapolis," remarked Chuck Paton, General Manager of
Hotel Ivy. "Credit goes to the entire staff, whose commitment and dedication
to an outstanding guest experience makes this possible."
"Hotel Ivy offers a unique hotel experience for visitors --
sophistication, history, luxury and distinct meeting spaces," said Melvin
Tennant, CEO & President of Meet Minneapolis, the official convention and
visitors association. "This type of national recognition helps make our job of
selling the destination to meeting planners and travelers easier. We are proud
to call the Hotel Ivy a valuable partner in our efforts."
For nearly a half-century, the Mobil Travel Guide star awards have been
the "Gold Standard of Travel Ratings and Reviews." With unannounced and
undercover facility inspections that check for more than 750 standardized
criteria for hotels, it is one of the most comprehensive and rigorous in the
industry.
A four-star award, such as the one Hotel Ivy received, denotes an
"outstanding establishment in a distinctive setting with expanded amenities
and exceptional service to create a luxury experience."
The Mobil Travel Guide website describes Hotel Ivy as follows:
"Some modern design can be as cold as a Midwestern blizzard, but Hotel
Ivy's contemporary style is warm and inviting. This hotel, located in downtown
Minneapolis, looks like a boutique hotel, but functions with the amenities of
the luxury Starwood chain of which it is a member. The hotel is connected by
skyway to Orchestra Hall and other local attractions, but with a
17,000-square-foot spa and one of the city's top restaurants, Porter & Frye,
you might just want to hole up right here."
Hotel Ivy is located at 201 South 11th Street in Minneapolis. A member of
the Starwood Luxury Collection, Hotel Ivy incorporates the historic Ivy Tower
and features 136 rooms including 21 historic suites. It is also home to Porter
& Frye Restaurant and Ivy Spa Club. For more information, please call

New Ivy Spa Club, Twin Cities Only Luxury Destination Spa, Offers World-Class Services From Around the Globe
Ivy Spa Club Now Open at the Historic Ivy Tower in Downtown Minneapolis
Minneapolis, Minn. - February 11, 2008 - Caviar Facials. Four Hand Massages. Vichy Showers and salt scrubs. Romantic Partners Spa Packages and hydrotherapy milk baths. Sounds like a luxury you would have to travel hundreds of mile for, right? Wrong. Twin Cities residents will, for the first time ever, be able to experience a unique destination spa without having to leave the city with the opening of the new Ivy Spa Club in downtown Minneapolis on February 8, 2008.
The 17,000 square-foot Ivy Spa Club is located at the historic Ivy Tower, 201 Eleventh Street South in downtown Minneapolis, on the second floor of Hotel Ivy, a Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel. Ivy Spa Club offers world-class spa services that soothe and relax, as well as fitness options tailored to invigorate and energize members and day guests alike. Whether you're a local resident looking for the ultimate day spa experience, a day guest passing through town, or an Ivy Spa Club member, this luxurious destination spa has a service or product tailored to fit your needs.
"Simply Beyond is our motto and our passion-it is what we strive for in every aspect of our guests' spa experience," states owner Pam Margolis. "From the professionalism of our staff, to the quality of the products used in our treatments, our goal is to redefine the luxury spa experience and to truly set the bar for five star hospitality in the Twin Cities."
Ivy Spa Club is the largest spa in the Twin Cities with 14 treatment rooms that allow for maximum flexibility in appointment scheduling. Ivy Spa Club's exclusive list of more than 75 treatments offers unique services from all corners of the globe, usually not available in any other Twin Cities spa. Among the many services which set Ivy Spa Club apart from other Twin Cities spas include:
Caviar Facial: Scientifically advanced, age-defying treatment containing the latest phyto-extracts and a vegetal botoxine proven to visibly smooth wrinkles and firm skin.
Four Hand Massage: Two therapists performing a choreographed massage in unison that dissolves tension and transports the recipient to a blissful place.
Ivy Ritual: Treatment begins with jojoba full body exfoliation, wrap and scalp massage. A hydrotherapy anti-stress milk bath follows, during which the face is cleansed, toned, and moisturized. Then a water lily body wrap is enjoyed with a de-stress and anti-puffiness eye mask and hand and foot massage. The session ends with a full body moisturizing massage.
Rejuvenating Still Water Mud Mask: A cleansing and healing treatment practiced throughout history by many cultures. A body scrub revitalizes new skin under a Vichy shower from multiple showerheads. Then the guest luxuriates in a cocoon of warm aromatic pine and rich mineral mud. Treatment helps alleviate muscle aches, reduce tension and relieve stress.
Ivy Spa Club also offers manicures, pedicures, waxings, and a wide array of specially tailored packages for couples, newlyweds, parents-to-be and bridal parties. For the busy downtown worker, there are also several lunch express services available. Furthermore, Ivy Spa Club features many luxurious amenities rarely found in other Minneapolis/Saint Paul spas: heavenly relaxation areas complete with fireplace, dedicated couples' suites and hydrotherapy treatment rooms, steam rooms, saunas, co-ed whirlpool, Vichy shower, cold plunge shower, a Water TileTM shower by Kohler in the women's locker room and much more.
Because the historic Ivy Tower is a valued treasure to the Minneapolis area, and is now undergoing it's own recycling by way of the careful renovation, Margolis has likewise taken care to use recycled and renewable materials wherever possible - from natural hemp uniforms for the staff, bamboo flooring, cork upholstery and teak custom furniture to organic menu selections in the Ivy Spa Club Caf and certified organic mixture of botanicals and pure essential oils used in Ivy Spa Club's Signature Formula line of body care products.
Ivy Spa Club members and day guests may also benefit from the state-of-the-art Matrix cardio and strength equipment with individual television monitors, vitalizing fitness classes, personal training and wellness options that fit personal requirements and schedules.
Easy and convenient parking options for all Ivy Spa Club guests will be available, which include front door valet service or skyway attached ramp parking that is validated with many Ivy Spa Club services. For more information, visit www.ivyspaclub.com.
