Located in the heart of Santa Barbara wine country, Hotel Corque feels worlds away from the demands of city life. In 2007, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians bought the Royal Scandinavian Inn, the largest hotel in the Danish community of Solvang, California, and transformed it into a sophisticated retreat steeped in the natural colors, textures, and character of California wine country. The June 2009 opening unveiled a new level of casual elegance and state-of-the-art convenience for the region.
The tribe brought in Bradley Ogden—perhaps best known for his award-winning One Market Restaurant in San Francisco and Bradley Ogden at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas—to orchestrate the farm-to-table menu and ambience at the new restaurant, Root 246. The hotel’s banquet room regularly seats up to 350 people for winemaker dinners and other celebrations, while the Chef’s Room, Fountain Courtyard, and restaurant patio host smaller affairs.
The hotel completes the sense of escape and relaxation by offering complimentary guest passes to the fitness studio next door and a wide choice of body and beauty treatments at the Spa at the Chumash Casino Resort, located just three miles away and accessed by the hotel’s shuttle service. There guests also have access to a 14,000-square-foot ballroom and other event spaces along with three restaurants, a casino, and a 1,300-seat showroom featuring top-name entertainment.
