The stars of Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame lie just outside the doorstep of Hollywood’s original A-list hotel. Once the playground of Errol Flynn, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, and others, the 1927 icon received a 2005 makeover by Dodd Mitchell, the LA designer known for his edgy old-school flair.
Today the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel presides as a hip luxury hideaway at the center of the action. Many of the east-facing rooms overlook Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and the popular cabana rooms surround an Olympic-size pool hand painted by David Hockney. Guests enjoy bed and bath linens by Sferra, grooming amenities by Kiehls, private pantries by Dean & DeLuca, and state-of-the-art in-room technology.
Groups meet in ten venues for business and parties. Supported by the latest in sound, visual, and lighting effects, entertainment moguls often favor the historic Blossom Ballroom, site of the first Academy Awards in 1929, and the three-story Gable & Lombard Penthouse with its floor-to-ceiling arched windows, seating by Mies Van der Rohe, and 1,000-square-foot rooftop deck.
While the signature restaurant, Dakota, entertains with a modern interpretation of the classic steak house, the stylish diner known as 25 Degrees presents a playful bordello-meets-burger-bar attitude. Two Tinseltown hot spots—Teddy’s and the poolside Tropicana Bar—regularly attract Hollywood’s brightest stars. Recent sightings inside the velvet rope range from Bruce Willis and Jake Gyllenhaal to Kirsten Dunst and Scarlett Johansson.
Average Rating: 9.50
Perfect for smaller groups. Exciting atmosphere. Lunch by the pool a must; however the suites adjacent the pool, are more form driven than funciton (beautifully modern but a little noisy). Definately geared for the young and young at heart. Tower rooms were cozy and well done. Event staff, concierge and front desk some of the best to date.

THE HOLLYWOOD ROOSEVELT HOTEL'S FAMED BLOSSOM BALLROOM UNVEILS COMPLETE HISTORICAL RENOVATION
Academy Awards' Inaugural Site Comes Back into the Spotlight with a
Glamorous Restoration
Hollywood, Calif. (March 2009) - A chapter in Hollywood's unparalleled history comes to life on a modern-day stage as The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's famed Blossom Ballroom, the site of the first Academy Awards in 1929, unveils its complete historical renovation. Painstakingly restored by New York-based BBG-BBGM, under the advisory of Francesca Smith, senior architectural historian with SWCA Environmental Consultants, the Blossom Ballroom's Spanish Colonial Revival style has been resurrected with the restoration of its original design elements, the addition of a new, outdoor space, and glamorous, modern-day updates throughout.
The 4,675 square foot space has played host to Hollywood luminaries since its debut in 1927, when designers Fischer, Lake & Traver transported guests to a romantic, grand ballroom reminiscent of an open courtyard set in the Spanish Colonial period. Although the hotel has undergone numerous changes since completion, the lobby and Blossom Room have maintained the original Spanish Colonial Revival designs that were featured in a 1928 edition of Architectural Digest.
The renowned design team at BBG-BBGM, guided by partner Christina Hart, led the $4 million renovation of the famed ballroom, restoring its original charm and detail, while integrating modern-day utilities and an updated glamour that can be found throughout the space. The room's focal point, an ornately detailed and opulent ceiling, has been updated with luminous lighting effects, custom hand-detailed stencil work that has been carefully restored, and decorative molding latticework that extends over the central portion, bordered by wood coffer detailing. Rich, opulent shades of gold, silver, red and deep greens bring the ceiling's awe-inspiring design details to life. The updated LED lighting lets guests further customize their ballroom experience to suit any mood and a state-of-the-art audio system sets the stage for events of any scale.
The ceiling's dramatic air perfectly suits the three custom-designed wrought iron chandeliers that anchor the room with warm lighting and a distinct style reminiscent of the historical era. Also in true Spanish Colonial style, the ballroom's walls feature a rich terracotta palette, bringing an earthy texture and tone to the space that highlights the floor's specialty tile work and a carpet that incorporates the same rich tones found in the ceiling's distinct artwork.
One of the site's prized treasures, a tiled archway housing a stone fountain that was a symbolic nod to the open courtyard theme, was unearthed during the construction process and has been completely restored with incredible attention to detail. Guests of the Blossom Ballroom will be further entranced by the room's custom-designed furniture and design elements, meticulously created to bring the site's original vision and signature essence to life in modern-day Hollywood.
The property's renovation also inspired the introduction of an intimate outdoor garden space, directly accessed from the Blossom Ballroom, where guests can enjoy the picturesque California surroundings in a romantic, exclusive hideaway. Fountains, cascading water, bamboo, vines and fragrant plants lend a serene, soft ambiance to the newly developed area.

Because of its historic significance, alterations to the Blossom Room were reviewed for conformance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation (Standards). The Standards are used for a variety of project types and ensure that projects do not cause irreparable harm to historic resources and to accommodate changing needs. Working collaboratively with City reviewers, project architects, designers, and a historic preservation consultant, the proposed project has been revised, scaled back and modified to achieve conformance with the Standards. Construction has revealed more than a few surprises, including parts of the striking, the original tile fountain, and sections of the original ceiling.
