GRAND GENEVA RESORT & SPA RESORT UNVEILS NEW SKI PACKAGES AND WINTER PROGRAMMING
Posted January 17, 2012
Resort announces its participation in “National Learn How to Ski and Snowboard Month”
(LAKE GENEVA, WI; December 19, 2011) – It’s time to suit up and hit the slopes at The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva. Located on the campus of the AAA Four Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, the Mountain Top is one of Wisconsin’s premier ski and snowboarding destinations, with 18 trails on three hills, 10 kilometers of scenic trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and a terrain park for snowboarding. In honor of the 2012 ski season, Grand Geneva and its sister property Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark are unveiling new initiatives, promotions and packages to fit all skill levels.
In January, the snow sports team will take part in national “Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month” (LSSM), an initiative that encourages children and adults to take lessons from professional instructors and challenges current skiers and snowboarders to improve their skills with advanced classes.
“Participating in this nationwide program was a natural fit for us,” says Snow Sports Director Hans Hauschild. “The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva has a separate area just for beginners, and we make sure our instructors are in-tune with new skiers’ needs.”

Weekday Ski Specials
Visitors can take advantage of all the Mountain Top has to offer with special weekday promotions, including:

• Twenty Dollar Tuesdays: Travelers looking for a mid-week ski break can take advantage of this special that offers each family member a $20 lift ticket, $20 group lesson or $20 ski rental, saving guests $15 on the bundle of all three services over the weekend rate of $75.

• Half-Off Wednesdays: Guests receive special half-off pricing on all equipment rentals, from skis to snowboards.

• Two-for-One Thursdays: To coincide with LSSM, every Thursday in January, the Mountain Top will offer a special Two for One deal, when visitors can receive two lift tickets and two beginner group lessons for the price of one.

Reservations are required for lesson times at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. For more information or to reserve a spot, please call the Ski School at 262. 245.7516.

After a day of instruction and snow, guests can extend their stay at the resort with the Stay and Ski Free package, featuring:
o Two tickets valid for one day of skiing or snowboarding at The Mountain Top
o Overnight accommodations in a newly renovated deluxe guest room
The Stay and Ski Free package is valid for Sunday through Thursday night stays, now through March 11, 2012. This package is not available on holidays or during holiday periods. Rates start at $159 per night, exclusive of resort fee and tax. Package is weather permitting.
Hit the Slopes with Family
The Mountain Top also offers a variety of programs for families looking for a structured lesson for their snow bunnies-in-training.
“Parents that visit the resort can relax knowing their kids are with professionals,” says Hauschild. “We have over 70 instructors, with a select group that specializes in children’s programs.” Hauschild and his staff offer two ski school options:

• Snow Cubs – A special club offered in January and February, designed to introduce children 4 – 6 years of age to a snow experience. Professionally trained instructors coach children within a group setting.

• Mountain Mites – This three-week program was created especially for children 6 – 14 years of age. Kids learn skills under the supervision of professionally trained instructors, using a specialized teaching system.

The fun continues at Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, where families can experience two vacations in one with the Splash and Ski package, featuring:
• Overnight accommodations in a one-bedroom suite
• Four passes to Moose Mountain Falls Waterpark
• Four lift tickets for one day of skiing or snowboarding at The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva
• 50% off ski rentals for children 11 years and younger

Rates for the Splash and Ski package start at $249 per night for a one-bedroom suite, exclusive of resort fee and tax. Rates for a two-bedroom suite start at $349 per night and include six waterpark passes and six lift tickets. Saturday stays require a two-night minimum stay with the package. Package is weather permitting.

“No matter when you visit, our team helps kids learn at their own pace amongst their peers,” Hauschild says. “We’re proud to be able to accommodate the whole family at Grand Geneva.”

GRAND GENEVA RESORT & SPA APPOINTS NEW FOOD AND BEVERAGE DIRECTOR
Posted January 17, 2012
Resort’s Dining Program to Evolve with New Concepts and Events
(LAKE GENEVA, WI; September 14, 2011)— The AAA Four Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is pleased to announce the appointment of Jurgen Hummel as its new Director of Food and Beverage. A native of Offenburg, Germany; Hummel brings more than twenty-five years of industry experience to the resort. In this position, Hummel will manage all aspects of Grand Geneva's numerous dining facilities, including the resort’s award-winning Geneva ChopHouse Restaurant and Ristorante Brissago. Hummel will also supervise the resort’s staff of 400 food and beverage employees.
“We have a great group of people that work at Grand Geneva,” Hummel says. “I’ve only been a part of the resort a short time, but it already feels like home.” Hummel hopes to provide a fresh take on the resort’s already stellar food and beverage program. In conjunction with Hummel’s appointment, the Geneva ChopHouse has revamped its brunch offerings with a new, “Interactive Sunday Brunch.” Taking “prepared to order” dishes to a whole new level, guests are served directly from ChopHouse’s exhibition kitchen. The menu features an array of breakfast favorites that evolves week to week according to the changing seasons.

“We want to expand the natural vegetable and herb garden program into a sustainable fresh produce supply for our restaurants,” Hummel says. “From this garden our culinary team will be able to utilize ingredients to create new menu offerings each season.”
In addition to editing the menus and providing more banquet options, Hummel plans to increase the number of special dinners and events held at the resort’s marquee venues, The Geneva ChopHouse and Risortante Brissago. He also aims to attract more diners from the surrounding communities, while giving resort guests new and exciting dining elements to enjoy during their stay on the campus.
For more information on the resort’s dining establishments or to make reservations, visit www.grandgeneva.com or call 262.248.8811.
About Jurgen Hummel
Hummel can trace his love for food back to a specific memory from his childhood. “When I was in first grade, I was walking to school and passed a local restaurant,” Hummel remembers. “I was immediately hooked by the smell of cooking, the sounds of the kitchen, the people coming and going out of the restaurant.” It was there Hummel says he vowed to make his culinary dreams a reality.
After attending university at Berufliche Fachschule in the Black Forest region of Germany, Hummel landed a culinary apprenticeship at a local hotel. After this stint, he officially made the leap across the pond to work for the Hyatt Corporation at hotels in Chicago and Los Angeles. From there, Hummel spent 10 years with the Sheraton Hotel in Denver, CO before joining Regal Hotels International as the Corporate Director of Food and Beverage.
From 2002 to 2008, Hummel worked at the Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, SC; where he held multiple positions, including Director of Food and Beverage, Director of Operations, and General Manager. During his six-year tenure at the resort, Hummel played a major role in the development of a Four Diamond condo facility and 200-seat restaurant.
Prior to joining the Grand Geneva in summer 2011, Hummel owned and operated Spa Moments, a full-service day spa Englewood, CO with his wife. Of his many career accomplishments, one of his favorite memories is taking part in the preparation of a state dinner for the Queen of England, Elizabeth II while working as the Executive Chef at the Cargill Hotel in the Isle of Jersey. In his free time, Hummel likes to spend time with family, play tennis, and read crime novels.

MARCUS HOTELS AND THE GRAND GENEVA PARTNER WITH HELMSBRISCOE FOR THE TIM CUP INVITATIONAL
Posted January 17, 2012
The Two-Day Event Resulted in $40,000 in Charitable Donations for Four Organizations
(LAKE GENEVA, WI; September 22, 2011)— On September 10 and 11, 2011, the AAA Four Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa was the site of the Tim Cup Invitational, a networking and charity event hosted by Marcus Hotels and Resorts and HelmsBriscoe. To celebrate the strength of this partnership, $40,000 was bestowed to four different charities, each committed to making a difference in their communities.
With 145 hoteliers and 70 HelmsBriscoe associates from around the world in attendance, Marcus Hotels and Resorts presented a check of $15,000 to St. Joan of Arc Parish School in Nashotah, WI and $15,000 to the Milwaukee Chapter of the United Way, Marcus Corporation’s charity partner. An additional $5,000 each was given to Marriott International’s charity partner the Children’s Miracle Network to benefit a local children’s hospital in Denver, CO and the Nevada Cancer Institute, a MGM Resorts International charity partner.
HelmsBriscoe Regional Vice President Tim Lamont, the man responsible for cultivating a partnership between the two corporations, stressed the importance of relationship-building during the event. “It’s important to us to bring people together that have not only done business together, but also support organizations with a strong presence in their communities.”
Now in its second year, the Tim Cup Invitational was created as a way for Lamont to link HelmsBriscoe associates with hoteliers “outside the normal framework of an expo or site selection. This year, we really wanted to step it up a notch in terms of the donation and the overall event line-up.” During last year’s event, a $15,000 donation was made to the Prairie Hill Waldorf School in Pewaukee, WI.
Guests of the Invitational stayed at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa for two nights, during which they participated in a volleyball tournament, dine-around, golf outing and closing Monday Night Football party. Sponsors such as MGM Resorts International, Marriott Corporation, and Meliá Hotels International convened on the resort’s championship course, The Highlands, for an interactive golf outing.
“We have a great relationship with Marcus Hotels & Resorts.” says Lamont. “Each year the event keeps getting bigger and better. We can’t wait until next year.”

Golf Outing Results in a $15,000 Donation to the Prarie Hill Waldorf School
LAKE GENEVA, WI; October 21, 2010 -

On September 30, 2010, Marcus Hotels and Resorts, in collaboration with HelmsBriscoe, bestowed a $15,000 donation upon the Prairie Hill Waldorf School in Pewaukee, WI during a ceremony at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. Marcus Hotels funded the donation to honor its strong partnership with HelmsBriscoe after the company hosted its annual golf outing at the Grand Geneva in August 2010, which helped build awareness for the resort among the company's national associates and hotel partners.

"As we emerge from the global economic downturn we understand that having strong industry partnerships is critical as we work to exceed our client's expectations," said HelmsBriscoe Regional Vice President Tim Lamont. "We value our relationship with Marcus Hotels, and were thrilled to partner with the Grand Geneva this year because the resort provides exceptional client service."

Lamont, who is responsible for forging the new relationship with Marcus Hotels, was honored with the responsibility of selecting the organization that would receive the donation. He chose to support the Prairie Hill Waldorf School to provide additional educational resources for children living in his local community.

"At Marcus Hotels and Resorts, we are committed to giving back to our local communities and are proud to provide this donation to the Prairie Hill Waldorf School, in partnership with the Grand Geneva and Tim Lamont and HelmsBriscoe," said Bill Otto, president and chief operating officer of Marcus Hotels and resorts. "We believe that these funds will make a lasting impact on children's learning experiences during the school year currently underway and in years to come."

Based on the success of this year's event at the Grand Geneva, Marcus Hotels and HelmsBriscoe plan to continue their partnership on an annual basis. Programming for next year's events is currently in development.

We are especially pleased that the readers gave such high scores for the course design and golf staff and services, two of the most important features for any golfer, and areas where we consistently strive for excellence,” says Grand Geneva Director of Golf Operations Dave Hallenbeck.
Grand Geneva offers two championship 18-hole courses, The Brute and The Highlands. The Brute boasts over 7,000 yards and was designed in 1968 by famed golf course architect Robert Bruce Harris. Enhanced with 68 bunkers, this par-72 layout has huge rolling greens averaging over 8,000 square feet. The Highlands was originally designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye in
1971 and has undergone two renovation phases, first by Robert Cupp in 1996 and then by Bob Lohmann in 2006. This Scottish-style course offers a shorter and tighter alternative to The Brute with environmentally-protected native grass areas and an explosion of colorful flowers lining the fairways. New for 2010, Grand Geneva has installed a Visage Mobile Golf Information System in each
golf cart to provide golfers with cutting-edge 3D graphic technology to help them navigate each hole. Guests of the resort who want to improve their golf game can also attend complimentary Guest Experience Clinics, held daily at the Grand Geneva golf shop.
