Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Located in Mashantucket, Connecticut, Foxwoods Resort Casino ensures something-for-everyone hospitality for every meeting and event. As North America’s largest resort casino, the 6.7-million-square-foot property features more than 2,200 rooms in four hotel towers, along with two spas, 38 dining experiences, 25 retails outlets, two theaters, two 18-hole championship golf courses, and six casinos buzzing with some 6,400 slots and 350 table games.
Something-for-everyone applies to the property’s 150,000 square feet of modern meeting and function space as well. The largest groups assemble in the 50,000-square-foot Premier Ballroom—the largest column-free space in the Northeast. All meeting areas feature state-of-the-art technology, and scenic outdoor space lends additional options in season.
Planners choose guest accommodations from an array of stylish rooms in four settings: MGM Grand at Foxwoods (a AAA Four Diamond Award recipient its first year of operation), the Grand Pequot Tower (a seven-time AAA Four Diamond Award recipient), the elegant Great Cedar Hotel, and the charming Two Trees Inn. All Foxwoods hotel rooms feature superior amenities, including flat-panel televisions and Internet access.
Another highlight of meetings at Foxwoods: nightlife. Group members choose from a variety of options that include Las Vegas-inspired Shrine nightclub; Comix comedy club; High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Lounge bowling complex; and the Center Bar in the middle of the MGM Grand Casino.
Planner Reviews
From our planner community
The staff at Foxwoods is a major key to our success and quite honestly, they could do our shows without us even being there. That's how involved they are and how much trust we have in their abilities.

JOAN M. ESNEAULT has been promoted to vice president of resort sales for Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods®.
Posted January 31, 2008
She most recently served as executive director of resort sales for the two properties. In her new role, Esneault will manage a team of more than 18 sales professionals, including destination management services. She will also direct the sales efforts for Foxwoods’ three existing hotel properties, pre-opening sales for MGM Grand at Foxwoods, scheduled to debut in spring 2008, and the destination’s state-of-the-art conference, meeting and event facilities.
“It is with great pleasure that we promote Joan to the position of vice president of resort sales as a result of her impressive tenure with Foxwoods,†said Gillian Murphy, senior vice president and general manager, MGM Grand at Foxwoods. “Over the years, Joan has played an integral role in promoting Foxwoods to the meetings industry. She has expertly serviced our long-term clientele while generating new business for the burgeoning destination which includes the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods property.â€
A 24-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Esneault joined Foxwoods in 1999 having previously served in various positions with the Marriott Corporation at hotels such as the Salt Lake City Marriott, Chicago O’Hare Marriott and the Minneapolis City Center Marriott. In 1988, she opened the Newport Marriott in Rhode Island as Director of Marketing before accepting the Director of Sales position at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square in 1997 where she worked until 1999. She is an active member of several industry organizations, including ASAE, MPI, PCMA and more.
Esneault holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary/secondary education from Rhode Island College and is a native of the ocean state. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Hartford Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mystic Coast and Country and a member of numerous industry organizations such as American Society of Association Executives, Meeting Professionals International and others.
