Within just three years of its opening in December 2008, EPIC has consistently sustained its superior service levels and guest experience, gaining stellar reviews and an ever-increasing number of repeat guests that have made EPIC their “first choice” among places to stay in downtown Miami.

The recent Condé Nast Traveler rankings follow last year’s placement of the hotel as a Top 10 Luxury Hotel, a Top 10 Trendiest Hotel, and a Top 25 Hotel in the U.S. by TripAdvisor® in its 2010 Travelers’ Choice® Awards. The EPIC was included in TripAdvisor’s national rankings for its excellence in luxury accommodations, representation of style and trends, and overall customer satisfaction, with 93 percent of all reviewers’ recommendations naming EPIC as the “best choice in Miami downtown”.

KIMPTON HOTELS & RESTAURANTS TREATS MIAMI’S LEADING WOMEN TO MOJITOS, HEELS AND WHEELS AT EPIC HOTEL, MIAMI
Posted August 12, 2011
Kimpton’s EPIC Teams with Neiman Marcus Coral Gables, Tiffany & Co. and Audi to Celebrate South Florida’s ‘Women InTouch’
MIAMI, August 12, 2011 – More than 100 of Miami’s leading business women participated in an evening of feel-good, female networking while learning the art of Mojito-making and dressing-up in fashions and accessories provided by Neiman Marcus and Tiffany & Co. The “Mojitos, Heels & Wheels” event was presented by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants at its EPIC Hotel in Downtown Miami on Thursday, August 11, 2011 to recognize its locally-based Women InTouch members, Kimpton’s loyal base of female customers.

“What traveling takes out of women, Kimpton helps put back in, through our distinctive style of hospitality which is designed to welcome, restore and inspire,” said Niki Leondakis, President and Chief Operating Officer, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “Our Women InTouch program in particular, supports the specific needs of the frequent female executive business traveler – health, wellness, ease, convenience and the need for a little fun every once in a while.”

Kimpton’s Women InTouch program includes hosting dinner events across the country for members, with each event serving as a chance to enjoy spirited fun, signature tastes and cocktails and memorable experiences. Kimpton’s Women InTouch events are held in cities throughout the U.S. where their members are based and where Kimpton has hotels. This is the first Women InTouch event to be held in South Florida, where Kimpton maintains the highest concentration of program members.

During EPIC’s Women InTouch “Mojitos, Heels & Wheels” event, members were treated to a fashion show by eight Women InTouch members who agreed to walk the runway in fashions and accessories provided by Neiman Marcus and Tiffany & Co., respectively. Neiman Marcus’ public relations manager, Katharine Rubino, gave the ladies in attendance an insider’s view on the hot trends for fall – color blocks, shimmers, lady-like details and accessories such as hand-held handbags and the color of the season: Bordeaux, followed by a runway show that included looks by Lanvin, Helmut Lang, St. John Knits, Badgley Mischka and Herve Leger.

Co-presenting the runway looks was Deborah Koch, general manager of Tiffany, Bal Harbour, which accessorized the ladies in a variety of looks from their Paloma Picasso, Keys and Marakesh-inspired collections.

The event kicked off with a Mojito-making lesson by Area 31 mixologist, Gaston, followed by a contest with teams of Women InTouch members creating their own version of Miami’s signature drink. The prize: having their Mojito recipe added to EPIC’s summer bar menu, along with the winners’ names, and proceeds from each drink sold through Labor Day benefitting Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that assists economically-challenged women as they transition from unemployment to self-sufficiency.

With a panel of judges that included Paige Dunn, regional director of sales and marketing, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants; Eric Jellson, area director of sales and marketing, EPIC Miami; and Megan Ratti, general manager, Area 31, the honors for the evening’s best Mojito went to Emily Kierce, Alery Delgado, Carrie Gits, Diana Beaz, Daniela Di Catarina, and Heather Rice, who included strawberries and pineapple in their version of the classic cocktail they named the “Tropical Sunrise Mojito.”

Before and after the contest, members networked, made new friends, got treated to nail color changes by Exhale spa, sipped on specialty cocktails, enjoyed light bites created by EPIC’s Area 31 restaurant, and won specially-chosen gifts from Tiffany, weekend test-drives of the new Audi A-7, and future stays at EPIC and other Kimpton hotels.

Managed by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, EPIC combines the timeless style of a cosmopolitan boutique hotel with the amenities of a resort to create a sophisticated recreation oasis for guests amid the energy and pulse of Miami. KIMPTON’S EPIC HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI OFFERS
TIPS FOR DOING BUSINESS MIAMI-STYLE
Special Rates and Incentives for Groups Ensure Meetings are Nothing Short of EPIC

MIAMI, April 28, 2011 – On the “business of doing business” in Miami, a deal is closed over a strong espresso, and relationships are built around shared experiences. The philosophy at Kimpton’s EPIC Hotel in downtown Miami is that to ensure a successful meeting, executives and planners should take their cue from how the Miami locals do business. And with special discounts and a bevy of services, amenities and options available, they can also take their meetings to an EPIC level.

Voted one of the top 25 largest meeting and convention sites in South Florida by the South Florida Business Journal, Kimpton’s EPIC Hotel knows how to do business in Miami. According to the hotel’s group sales team, a Miami meeting should bring in local elements to inspire new ideas and cultivate lasting business relationships, including:

1. Take a Shot – of Cuban espresso that is. Served hot and strong, serve a round to your group during early morning or late afternoons for a quick pick-me-up. Then later that evening when it’s time to wind down, enjoy EPIC’s complimentary wine hour.

2. Go Familiar vs. Formal – Doing business is all about relationship building. In Miami, the preference however is to bond over the familiar versus the formal – so treat your group, client or prospect to a Miami Heat game, or a sunset tour of Biscayne Bay arranged from EPIC’s own marina.

3. Take It Outside – For a more inspired meeting, enjoy the sun and the scenery as much as the locals do. Consider taking your meeting outside to one of EPIC’s cozy cabanas, or over drinks on the 16th floor pool terrace with the city as your backdrop. And for large-sized events, there’s the EPIC Lawn.

4. Feel as Good You Look – Miami is a feel-good, health-conscious town, so kick-off your meeting with breathing techniques, a group stretch or shoulder massages to get your thoughts flowing and the team loose and limber before starting the day. A pro from EPIC’s exhale spa will take your team through the motions.

5. Live a Little – Remember you’re in Miami, so include some pleasure along with your business by giving your group a chance to take in what the Magic City has to offer. Whether it’s the culture, shopping, nightlife, dining or the local music scene, your group will be amped up for business after a chance to live it up Miami-style.

Located near Miami’s financial center, EPIC knows how to turn an everyday business meeting, into an epic one. In addition to offering a bit of local advice to planners on how to add a little Miami spice to their next meeting, EPIC also features the Pick-Your-Perks meeting program, which gives meeting planners new ways to customize meetings with creative perks and incentives. Through the program, groups receive:

• 5 percent off the master account charges with booking of 50-100 room nights or 10 percent off with 101 or more total room nights.

• A choice of two of the following options:
o 50 percent off meeting room rental
o 10 percent off audio/visual equipment
o Up to five VIP guestroom upgrades (based on availability) with welcome amenity
o Complimentary weekend stay for future use
o Complimentary 60-minute massage from Exhale spa
o Complimentary two-hour Private Yacht Cruise departing from EPIC’s private marina for groups staying 2 nights or more and contract 50 rooms per night or more. *Food and beverage is not included

With the Pick-Your-Perks meeting program, planners also receive a gift certificate – ranging from $100 – 500, based on the total combined group revenue. They can also choose to donate the gift certificate value to their favorite charity. Pick Your Perks offer is valid on all new groups not already contracted staying from June 1 through September 30, 2011.

MIAMI – March 30, 2011 – As the world prepares to celebrate Earth Day on April 22, Kimpton’s EPIC Hotel in Miami announces a week-long series of environmental, service-focused events and activities for guests, staff and the local community.
EPIC is one of 51 hotels and 52 restaurants across the country helping to honor Kimpton’s 30 year commitment to environmental responsibility and care by bringing Earth Day to new heights with the launch of Kimpton’s EarthCare Week, from April 15 – 22, 2011. The celebration comes as the U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP) announced recently that one of the fastest and most promising green industries is sustainable tourism, with travelers paying increasing attention to green travel service suppliers, and opting for more green travel choices.
EarthCare Week is a national Kimpton celebration that builds upon the company’s devotion to environmental responsibility and will inspire guests to give back to the local communities when they stay, eat and play with Kimpton. In Miami, local community members, hotel guests and restaurant diners can participate in Kimpton EarthCare Week events via the following scheduled activities hosted by EPIC:
Friday, April 15 – Friday, April 22:
• Pedometer Days: to promote a more environmentally-friendly and healthier alternative to driving, EPIC is encouraging guests to walk during “Pedometer Days.” Pedometers will be made available at the front desk and progress will be tracked during daily wine hour, with prizes awarded to guests, and their pets, who log the most steps.
• Restaurant Launch Weekend: In partnership with the local and organic, Paradise Farms, Area 31 presents the following specially-created “100% organic EarthCare Week” five- course menu for guests priced at $55 per person and offered exclusively for dinner:
o Green Crunch Vegetable Salad with Watermelon Radish & Rhubard Vinaigrette
o Heirloom Carrot Soup with Chic Pea Fritter & Hanni’s Goat Cheese
o Toasted Quinoa with Poached Quail Egg, Smoked Tofu, and Pickled Spring Onion
o Braised Faro with Kale, Creamed Adzuki Beans, & Roasted Oyster Mushrooms
o Staff Picked Carambola with Passion Fruit & Caramel
Sunday, April 17:
• Community Service Project Day: EPIC Hotel employees will spend a day at “Roots in the City,” an urban farm in Overtown, FL. There, the group will cultivate, plant, weed and seed throughout the three-acre plot of land, in an effort to help maintain and sustain the urban farm for the local community.
Monday, April 18:
• Round-Up Recycle Day: EPIC Hotel invites the community to drop off their unwanted electronics for recycling. Local electronics retailer, Best Buy, has agreed to handle the recycling and will offer a gift card for items turned in.
• Yoga on the Lawn: Between 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., Exhale spa will hold a complimentary Vinyassa Flow with a live DJ on the EPIC lawn for guests and employees to encourage outdoor activity, health and wellness.
Tuesday, April 19:
• Plant a Tree: A team from EPIC will conduct a special tree-planting ceremony on the Trust for Public Land Miami Circle Historical Site located across from the hotel.
• Lights Out Power Hour: From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., EPIC Hotel will host wine hour by candlelight to conserve energy.
Wednesday, April 20:
• Community Awareness Day: EPIC Hotel will welcome second graders from local elementary schools, courtesy of the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe, to meet with EPIC’s Director of Engineering, who will educate them on energy conservation and recycling.
Thursday, April 21:
• EPIC Hotel will host a fundraising and awareness-building event for the Trust for Public Land on the 16th floor pool deck from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Attendees and guests will enjoy complimentary cocktails from Bacardi, complimentary organic wines from Naked Winery, and complimentary hors d ‘oeuvres. A donation is encouraged to attend the event, which will also include a silent auction. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Trust For Public Land. Local environmentally-conscious businesses and vendors will also be showcased during the event. To attend, or for more information, contact Christina Loria @ Christina.loria@epichotel.com or 305.967.7303.
“Since our opening in 2008, EPIC has maintained its commitment to environmental responsibility, doing its part to contribute to a more sustainable world,” said Joe Schwingler, EPIC’s general manager. “We are pleased to participate in Kimpton’s EarthCare Week while encouraging our guests, staff and the local Miami community to do their part as well.”
In April 2010, Kimpton’s EPIC Hotel earned its Silver level Green Seal certification in recognition of its environmental responsibility. Green Seal certification is an important third-party validation of Kimpton’s more than 100 environmentally responsible operational practices. Under Kimpton’s EarthCare program, the company is able to more effectively measure its nationwide reductions in waste, energy and water consumption.
Kimpton’s innovative EarthCare initiatives date back to the company’s inception in 1981 and include several industry firsts such as in-room recycling bins and the use of non-toxic cleaners brand-wide. Diners at Kimpton restaurants have access to increased sustainably produced wine selections on menus, can take advantage of in-house purified water through a national partnership with Natura® and enjoy sustainable seafood dishes in accordance with Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program. In 2010, under the direction of master sommelier Emily Wines, Kimpton introduced a Wines on Tap program at restaurants across the country to provide fresh wine by the glass, strengthen relationships with local vineyards, conserve corks and reduce waste. New initiatives that were recently added to Kimpton’s more than 100 daily environmental practices include converting certain paper products to Fiberstone, a tree-free, water-free, natural paper alternative and converting to printer ink with a 70/80 ratio of bio-renewable content (higher BRC than soy ink).
