In California’s Coachella Valley, Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa surrounds groups of up to 3,000 with four-diamond luxury. In 2007, a $35 million renovation transformed the resort’s public areas into a stylish haven for socializing and relaxation.
At the new porte-cochere entry, dramatic water features spill into reflecting pools of Italian mosaic glass tile. Just beyond, the revamped 30,000-square-foot, eight-story Atrium lobby combines smooth-flowing registration areas with a 2,000-square-foot Starbucks with patio, a 60-foot Lobby Bar, and an adjoining sushi bar. In addition, an enlarged dock area for the ever-popular Venetian waterways allows two gondolas at once to board guests for transportation around the property.
The renovation also encompasses the 38,000-square-foot Spa Desert Springs, where groups can book the “spa within the spa”—a suite that includes its own lounge, treatment rooms, Turkish hammams and digital desert rain showers. Other free-time activities range from two Ted Robinson–designed golf courses to 20 multisurface tennis courts, five pools, and a choice of 11 restaurants and lounges.
When it’s time to get down to business, Desert Springs delivers over 210,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space—including two side-by-side, high-tech ballrooms totaling over 45,000 square feet; five director’s suites for small to midsize meetings; two boardrooms with pop-up dataports and videoconferencing capability; and expansive outdoor function areas that showcase the warm desert climate, majestic mountain views, and lagoon.

Marriott at the Palm Desert is as good as it can get. Property has everything you could ask for in terms of outside venues for programs. I have taken two groups to the property. Property has undergone some remodeling. Spa was scheduled to be completed late 2007. Hotel had reasonable location with special prices during our visit. I would certainly take another group.

Spectacular layout and the drive up to the entrance is awesome. The boat rides to hotel restaurants is a uniques feature that set this property on its own. Tuscany's restaurant is one of the valley's best Italian experiences. Great golf.

I had my annual Itron Users' Conference here in 2006. The lobby was not complete yet as promised, but still had an outstanding meeting.

For years the resort has been exceeding our expectations, which is why it continues to be the favorite location of our membership for the annual convention. After all, how can you beat outstanding service, food, and recreation—all in a beautiful setting?
