The Corinthia Hotel Budapest holds court in Budapest’s former Grand Hotel Royal, built in 1896 on bustling Erzsébet Boulevard on the Pest bank of the Danube. A proud member of the Wyndham Grand Collection, the hotel boasts the largest meeting facility of any five-star hotel in Hungary. Its Valletta Conference and Exhibition Centre encompasses a major portion of the first floor, totaling 22,000 square feet for gatherings of up 2,200 guests. Planner favorites among the 30 rooms for events include the 8,000-square-foot expo hall and the beautifully restored rococo ballroom renowned for its inlaid marble, acres of gold leaf, and frescos of Hungarian artists.

Guests dining outside of catered affairs find a choice of five food and beverage outlets on the premises. These include the Brasserie and Atrium Restaurants, Bock Bistro, Szamos Marcipán Café, Rickshaw Restaurant, and Le Bar off the lobby.

Another major attraction at the hotel, the Royal Spa, first opened in 1886. Today, after a faithful restoration and updating, its state-of-the-art facilities include a 50-foot swimming pool, fitness room, relaxation areas, sauna, steam, Jacuzzis, tropical rain showers, Niagara tubs, mud and seaweed baths, and a wide variety of wraps, facials, and massage therapies. For some guests, the 414 accommodations evoke a sense of nirvana similar to the spa’s with their blend of the best of the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries rolled into one.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas M Fischer as General Manager of the Corinthia Hotel Budapest. Mr. Fischer will join the Corinthia family as of today (1st March 2012).

Thomas M. Fischer arrives in Budapest from Germany where he was the General Manager for the Kempinski Hotel Gravenbruch Frankfurt, a 284-bedroom 5-Star deluxe hotel.

Mr. Fischer has had a successful international career with the Kempinski Group, where he has held posts in Germany, Moscow and China.

Prior to working with Kempinski, Mr. Fischer has worked for Le Meriden Hotel in Germany and the Crocket Hall Estate and Hyatt Regency in the United Kingdom.
