For starters, Casa de Campo claims its own yacht marina and quarter-mile of beach on the Dominican Republic’s southeastern Caribbean coast. But along with rolling terrain growing fruits, vegetables, and spices for a variety of restaurants, the resort’s 7,000 acres also hold a sixteenth-century–style Italian village, three top-ranked Pete Dye–designed golf courses, a world-class spa, skeet and sporting clays center, tennis center, and equestrian center equipped for trail rides, international jumping competitions, and tournament polo.

Like the celebrities who frequent Casa de Campo—some with homes on the property—meeting guests receive the full VIP treatment. They live in a choice of 183 stylish new accommodations in the main-building area and 50 villa homes with up to five bedrooms, pool, and maid and butler service. Two conference centers (one newly renovated) total 15,000 square feet of meeting space for business, banquets, and receptions. The choices extend to the beach, multiple venues at Altos de Chavon village, and virtually every recreation center at the resort.

On-site entertainment ranges from dancing to first-run movies to live shows and concerts by international artists at a 5,000-seat amphitheater (inaugurated in 1982 by Frank Sinatra). Guests also enjoy a fascinating display of Dominican artifacts at the resort’s Museum of Archaeology. Popular group excursions include sunset catamaran cruises, daylong trips to exclusive or uninhabited beaches, tours of the largest handmade-cigar factory in the world, and guided treks to see the pre-Columbian paintings at the Maravillas Caves.

I would be remiss if I did not tell you how much the Davidson Group enjoyed their time at Casa de Campo. Of the beach, the marina, golf, and the new rooms, they could not have been more complimentary.

Dinners at all the restaurants promoted discussions about which restaurant served the best food, had the best atmosphere, delivered the most value. And these people are from New York City, they know good food; so debating about all the great restaurants is a real compliment to Casa de Campo. Finally I must mention the farewell at Altos de Chavon; it was over the top, a memory sure to last a lifetime.
Also I give my gratitude to the entire staff for managing every detail and responding to every request in such a timely and efficient manner.

Our recent Executive Seminar that was held at Casa de Campo was the very best that our group has ever experienced. The rooms, suites and all of the facilities were outstanding. The staff at the facility were extraordinarily competent and helpful, and all of the food functions were top-notch. We can't wait to return to Casa de Campo.

Golf at Casa de Campo
Posted 04 Oct, 2011 by Caroline Musy Three resort courses, 63 Holes enjoyed by our guests plus a private course with 27 holes for a total 90 holes of golf
These are the reasons why Casa de Campo has been voted the World’s Leading Golf Resort for the last five consecutive years. The legendary Pete Dye, Golf Hall of Fame Member had the vision to create, designed and build what Casa de Campo is and has become… the best golf resort in the world!

Teeth of the Dog
Location: on southeast coast of Casa de Campo resort and the Dominican Republic.
Construction began: 1967; First played: August 1971; Par 72
Stretching 7,471 yards; prominent features: 7 holes on the Caribbean Sea – four on the front-nine and three on the back nine.
The best series of par 3 holes anywhere # 5, # 7, # 13 & # 16
Hole # 8, par 4, the back tee sits in the ocean like a small peninsula
Hole # 5, par 3 is by far the most photograph hole on the Teeth of the Dog
Greens and tees are Paspalum; Fairways are Bermuda 419

The Teeth of the Dog is a course you can play day after day and never get tired of playing it. Every hole is different, every hole has a different intimidation factor but all level golfers can enjoy the course. No matter what you score is at the end of 18 holes you will be delighted and happy that you had the opportunity to play the Teeth of the Dog.

The Links
Location: The course is located East of its famous sister Teeth of the Dog, winding in the interior of the resort. Both courses share the same pro shop and starting area. It is presently being remodeled; the greens will be planted with Paspalum and will reopen late February 2012.
Construction began: 1973 * First played: 1976 * Par 72
The course stretches out to 6,900 yards which is not long in this modern area of golf, but it requires accurate drives and pinpoint accuracy with your irons. Five holes are played around man-made lakes. A fun course to play.
Greens and tees are Paspalum, Fairways are Bermuda 419

Dye Fore
Location: spans from the the Altos de Chavon village to the Casa de Campo Marina.
Construction began: 1998 * First played: April 20, 2003 * Par 72
Big is the word to describe Dye Fore original 18 holes. The fairways are wide, the bunkers are big, the undulation severe and the greens are huge.
The challenge is to be able to play shots from different lies. Flat lies are not common on Dye Fore except on the teeing grounds
It is important while you play that you look forward and backwards because the best views might be behind you instead of in front of you. When you start on # 1 the long par five, look back after your second shot and you will see the best view of Altos de Chavon, nothing like it.
The entire course is Paspalum except the greens are Tifdwarf Bermuda

Dye Fore Lakes:
Location: North East side of the Original Dye Fore
Construction began: 2009 * First played: July 2011 * Officially Opened Sept. 2011 * Par 36
5 Holes are played around three huge lakes. A flatter 9 then the other 18 holes at Dye Fore but more strategically placed fairway bunkers, which helps you keep your focus on the task at hand.
The two par 3 holes are extremely intimidating and difficult. Small greens running along the border of a lake. No place to bail out.
Looking down the first fairway you can see hole # 1, # 2 and # 3, looking from the back of #9 green you can see # 9, # 8, # 7 and # 6
All Paspalum

This is a great addition to the original Dye Fore. We now can play three different rotations and three nine holes are different. The wind has a major effect on how you play the course. The greens are all different from being flat on the ground to elevated. A fun 9 to play.

GOLF SCHOOL TOO!
Casa de Campo is home to a Jim McLean Golf School, the number #1 golf school in the world, and the Master Instructor Eric Lillibridge. Jim McLean’s proven teaching system guarantees results. Eric Lillibridge, has worked for the Jim McLean Golf School for five years and spent two of those years working directly under Jim McLean as his teaching assistant. As Eric says, "The bottom line is, my students have fun and they get better at golf!"

* La Romana Country Club features an 18 holes of golf + the Dye Fore South nine, and is for private membership use only

PETE DYE’S NEWEST NINE - DYE FORE LAKES OPENS AT CASA DE CAMPO
Posted 04 Oct, 2011 by Caroline Musy
LA ROMANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – OCTOBER 4, 2011 -- With golf season in full swing, Casa de Campo -- the 7,000-acre luxury resort in the Dominican Republic announces the official opening of Pete Dye’s newest nine holes - for a total of 63 holes of play for resort guests on the Teeth of the Dog, The Links and Dye Fore. Pete Dye’s new nine, Dye Fore Lakes is located near the Altos de Chavon artisan village and will connect with Dye Fore Chavon – the original north nine of Dye Fore, and the Marina Nine - the original south nine, to create an amazing 27-hole complex. The first golfers to experience Pete Dye’s new nine at Casa de Campo were the 268 players who participated in the 30th Annual Casa de Campo Open Sept. 14-18, 2011. “We thought it would be fun to have these golfers – many of whom have been coming to Casa de Campo for 30 years now, to be among the first to experience a new added dimension to our Dye Fore,” said Gilles Gagnon, Director of Golf Operations at the resort.

One of the world’s most legendary golf course designers – and the only course designer at Casa de Campo, Pete Dye said he built the new nine to decrease distances between nine’s and the Dye Fore clubhouse. “It took five years to build and when you have so much time you keep looking at it, trying to see the long views,” said Dye. “There's about 20 acres of lakes up there, so high in spots all you see are mountains and ocean. I really like it.”

Having completed a $40 million hotel redesign program in Dec. 2010, Casa de Campo is the Caribbean’s premier golf destination. The Teeth of the Dog, with seven holes on the Caribbean Sea, opened in 1971 and consistently ranks as the top course in the Caribbean and one of the top courses in the world - most recently ranked #47 on Golf Magazines’ Top 100 Courses in the World (Sept. 2011). The Links, an inland course; opened in 1976, is currently under total renovation and will reopen as an all new course in late February 2012. Dye Fore opened for play in 2001 as an 18-hole course at the Altos de Chavon artists village. With 7-cliff side holes that drop 300 feet to the Chavon River, dramatic 360 degree views of the Chavon River, Dominican mountains, the Casa de Campo Marina and Altos de Chavon, it now additionally features Dye Fore Lakes to create the new Dye Fore with 27 spectacular holes to play.

For ease of arrival, starting Nov. 16 JetBlue offers direct flights between JFK and La Romana Airport (LRM) -- just eight minutes from check-in; American Airlines now offers daily non-stop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and La Romana Airport (LRM) and starting November 18 twice weekly flights from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
