This medium-size resort is about 30 minutes north of the shops and restaurants of Scottsdale, in the little town of Carefree. Accommodations range from basic guest rooms to 2,400-square-foot residential villas with complete kitchens that can be stocked with groceries on request. Resort amenities include pools, a spa and golf privileges at an adjacent course. A number of on-site dining venues are supplemented by Carefree's eateries that are easy to get to by complimentary resort shuttle. Function areas include 60,000 square feet of meeting and conference space. A complete renovation is pending.
