Elite Meetings magazine and our Web site, EliteMeetings.com, were born from the realization that no comprehensive resource existed for planners in search of top venues for meetings and incentive travel. While researching available tools, I found that most included only certain brands. Others "recommended" properties for a fee, and many provided data in a way that didn't serve planners. I soon discovered that my dream of an extensive, peer-rated resource was shared by many industry veterans—including both meeting planners and hotel sales executives looking to reach a qualified audience.
Our first step in determining what makes an exceptional meeting destination was to create the Elite Meetings Advisory Board (EMAB), a team of renowned planners and hoteliers. The board collectively reviewed thousands of resorts and hotels, and in the end, endorsed only a select group of properties (for the complete list, conduct a search here on EliteMeetings.com).
Our goal is to help planners connect with the perfect property for their group event by presenting a broad range of venues, from intimate incentive destinations such as Twin Farms in Vermont and The Bedwell River Outpost in British Columbia to larger meeting properties such as Colorado's Broadmoor and Florida's Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa.
As we move forward, we continue to enlist the help of planners in creating the ultimate go-to resource. We encourage planners to register on EliteMeetings.com as an Elite Meetings Surveyor and share their personal recommendations and ratings of properties they have worked with. The result will be a continuously developing database that provides time-saving tools for all planners in search of the best locations for meeting and incentive trips.
