The alpine setting of Resort at Squaw Creek sets a majestic backdrop for meetings. Set at the base of Squaw Valley USA, site of the 1960 winter Olympics and minutes from Lake Tahoe’s north shore, the resort presents superb event facilities in a recreational paradise.

During winter, guests enjoy sledding, snowmobiling and skiing with convenient ski-in, ski-out access to Squaw Valley USA. Summertime brings scenic hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and 18-hole championship-caliber golf designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The spa, fitness center, and boutique shops afford entertainment all year long. A host of group activities adds such teambuilding opportunities as dogsled tours, broomball, rafting and horseback riding. The recreation staff can also make group arrangements for golf tournaments, relays, and traditional teambuilding challenges.

Meetings take place in the 33,000 square feet of space indoors and an additional 14,750 square feet in the great outdoors. The conference planning team can customize food and beverage services to suit any agenda, with options ranging from full meal packages, box lunches and restaurant dining to themed banquets in the ballroom.

Accommodations capture the rustic elegance of a mountain home. To begin, large picture windows focus on the six peaks of Squaw Valley and the forest below. Nearly half of the 405 lodgings are suites or penthouses that feature residential kitchens with brand-name appliances, gas fireplaces, and LCD flat-screen TVs. All rooms come with amenities such as speakerphones with voice mail, high-speed wireless Internet access, weekday newspapers and plush pillow-top beds.

The overall experience was good. I love the outdoor space. The rooms were a little tired, but I think they have renovated since I was there. I recommend river rafting for an activity.

Exceptional, outstanding, incredible, extraordinary are but a few words that describe the level of service and commitment that made our recent conference for the California County Information Services Directors Association (CCISDA) a huge success. I can say without reservation that the staff at Resort at Squaw Creek are the very best.

Olympic Valley, Calif. - Resort at Squaw Creek's new director of sales, Cory Carlson, a former member of the U.S. Ski Team, has ushered in new offers at Resort at Squaw Creek for the upcoming season. To personalize meetings and conferences, Resort at Squaw Creek will offer the opportunity to add on-mountain tours of Squaw Valley USA with one of several past World Cup and Olympic athletes. Tamara McKinney, Bill Hudson, Bob Ormsby, Hansi Standteiner and Kristin Krone are among the many options for Olympian-led tours or team building events that can create that one-of-a-kind experience.

As it happens, this year marks the 50th Anniversary of 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley USA. To commemorate the auspicious occasion, events will take place all season long at Squaw Valley USA and Resort at Squaw Creek. A dedicated Olympic Heritage Celebration will take place January 8 through January 17, 2010 with a myriad of events, re-creations of Olympic events, parties and other festivities. Olympians, past and present, from the Lake Tahoe region will be making appearances during this celebration.

"I'm not aware of any other resort in the country that offers tours and team building events with such an esteemed group of recognized athletes," said Carlson. "Having led these types of tours in Colorado in the past, I know these on-mountain experiences place that unique touch for a select number of guests at meetings or conferences." The on-mountain tours typically accommodate up to 12 people per group. Generally, a skiing ability of intermediate or above is recommended.

For groups looking to reach a larger audience, the athletes are available for team building events. Additionally, Tamara McKinney is available for inspirational and motivational speaking engagements. Carlson also noted that Resort at Squaw Creek-based meetings can be created with an entire Olympic theme.

For information on Olympian-led tours, team building events, or speaking engagements, call Cory Carlson at 530.581.6609.

AAA Four-Diamond Resort at Squaw Creek offers 360 luxurious rooms and suites, 33,000 square feet of meeting space, a full-service spa, and year-round pool and hot tub complex.

Resort at Squaw Creek also offers ski-in, ski-out access to Squaw Valley USA, providing quick access to more than 4,000 acres of terrain served by an extensive network of 33 lifts including North America's only Funitel and the world-famous KT-22 Express lift. The resort features a host of non-ski activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sled tours, horse-drawn sleigh rides and an on-property ice skating rink. Plus, the property's on-site ski shop provides ski and snowboard rentals, expert boot fitting, lift tickets for purchase and complimentary ski lockers. Squaw Valley USA traditionally opens for skiing and snowboarding in late November.
