The Awards are sponsored by Interior Design + HOTELS magazine and are announced annually in conjunction with The International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (IH/M&RS) in New York City.

More than 225,000 submissions were cast this year from a panel of renowned industry experts representing 24 countries from around the world. Finalists were selected on the basis of practicality, aesthetics, and functionality of design. Expert judges included Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel, Architects, PC; Michael Silberstein, Crowne Plaza Times Square; and Michael Whiteman.

In addition to its existing 102 guest rooms, Miraval recently added 16 ecologicallydesigned rooms known as the Catalina Rooms and Suites, with interiors designed by Clodagh and architecture by Mithun, which received LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
